This week's Watch With Us Wednesday we discuss one section in the expansive universe of the Gundam genre: Mobile Suite Gundam Thunderbolt. 8 compacted episodes revolving around the Federation troops and Zeon forces carrying out a fierce battle in the Thunderbolt Sector, a space sector composed of the debris from destroyed space colonies. Mobile Suit pilot Io Flemming is among the Federation soldiers who are dispatched to the area, where Zeon sniper Daryl Lorenz awaits them on the battlefield. Joining us to help explain the history of the Gundam universe and the happenings of the Thunderbolt series, Gundam connoisseur and our dear friend, Joe.

Somewhere around 2010, we saw a wave of anime that quickly became the dominating genre - isekai. A situation of "accidental travel" where a normal person from earth was transported to, reborn or otherwise trapped in a parallel universe, fantasy or virtual world. Filled with fantasy and RPG-like dynamics that were relevant to the boom in that time of online gaming and massive multiplayer communities, this genre spoke to that demographic like never before and grew it to what it is today.
