The Secret World of Arrietty

Based on an adaptation of the 1952 novel The Borrowers by Mary Norton, The Secret World of Arrietty by Studio Ghibli is still beloved by many watchers for it's beautiful storytelling and imaginative world-building.
While spending the summer at his aunt's house, Shou gets a glimpse of a tiny girl and soon finds out they are living under the floorboards; collecting and surviving on bits of human possessions. Despite her parents' warnings, Arrietty befriends Shou, stirring up unexpected events that change their lives forever.

The Start of Our Manga Collection

Just as watching anime can become a slippy slope of addiction, so too is manga. Over the past six months, we have quickly grown our manga collection to now include some of our favorite shows such as Fire Force, I'm the Villainess, So I'm Taming the Final Boss, Chainsaw Man and Darling in the Franxx. We also discuss the other manga we would love to read, and some anime news such as the new Demon Slayer movie releasing in March and the first episode of Attack on Titan, the final season part 3.

Guyver: The Bioboosted Armor

The Guyver: Bio Boosted Armor is a sci-fi manga and anime series that follows high schooler Sho Fukamachi, who stumbles upon a mysterious device. When Sho accidentally activates the device, he transforms into the Guyver, a suit of armor that is a living, biological organism that bonds with its user and grants them incredible powers. Sho must now learn to control his new powers and defeat the secret organization called Chronos, who desire to recapture the Guyver unit by any means necessary.
The Guyver: Bio Boosted Armor is a cult classic with a devoted fanbase and has inspired multiple adaptations in various media, including anime, live-action films, and video games.

While many parents might not turn to anime as a means of entertainment for their kiddos, it's actually packed full of different subjects and learning opportunities. So many shows open a whole world of new things not explored in American television such as learning about different cultures, igniting creativity, tackling weighty subjects and developing reading skills in watching subtitled anime and potentially manga. Obviously, not all anime is suited for all ages, so in this episode we discuss the shows we'll be introducing to our daughter at certain ages - and we couldn't be more excited!
